GORDON YORKE loaded up the truck and left a drenched Coffs Harbour yesterday morning bound for Brisbane and today's Doomben meeting, reports Craig Young in the Sydney Morning Herald.
His report adds:"I was sceptical how far I'd get with this rain but I'm 40 minutes past Grafton and I've got the wipers off," the trainer said. "Doesn't matter anyway, I've got a couple of swimmers on board, I don't care about the rain."
A wet track at Doomben awaits Yorke's unbeaten juvenile One Lickety Split, which is out to extend the streak to four in the Doomben Slipper while Nuclear Medicine runs in the Chief De Beers Quality.
"Nuclear Medicine has been screaming out for a wet track," Yorke said. "He had a hard track the other day, drew wide and never got on the track but I expect a result from him tomorrow."
One Lickety Split completed the winning hat-trick with a slick performance to claim the Golden Stakes at Doomben a fortnight ago, and has Jim Cassidy back on board. "The little fellow, I think he'll handle it wet," Yorke said. "He has won two in the slow."
