ANTHONY CUMMINGS is suffering from the flu, but son Edward was in good voice when cheering home Secret Destiny, which scored in a three-way photo-finish at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, reports Craig Young in the Sydney Morning Herald/Age.
His report adds: The Cummings team is set to go on with the job at Rosehill on Saturday, and the two-state operation is also a player at Sandown. At Rosehill, Domitian goes around in the Schweppes Handicap, Merger Benefits runs in the Stirling Products Handicap and another last-start winner, Turnstiles, contests the Bacardi Breezer Handicap.
A son of Rock Of Gilbraltar, Domitian has only won once from 12 starts, and goes into the event coming off a close-up fifth behind The Paymaster at Rosehill a fortnight ago.
''Domitian loomed up to win last start but knocked up,'' Cummings jnr said. ''He'll be better for the run, and he has a very good work ethic. He'll run a race on Saturday.''
The aptly named Merger Benefits, which is part owned by AJC vice-chairman John Cornish's Torryburn Stud, has promised plenty, and finally delivered at start number 10.
''Merger Benefits had to work hard getting across from the wide barrier at Canterbury, and was still able to kick in the straight,'' Cummings jnr said. ''It was a strong win, and he has worked well since.''
Turnstiles has won two of her past four starts, and fought back strongly when scoring last time out at Rosehill. ''She also dug deep to win last start, and is ready to go on with it,'' Cummings jnr said.
