Falconer gets the chance to provide Bart Cummings with a belated birthday present tomorrow night at Moonee Valley.

The four-year-old will carry the iconic trainer's green and gold colours in the $35,000 Caravan Industry Victoria Handicap (1200m).

Initially an emergency, the son of Nadeem gained a run following the scratching of Lone Star and will be Cummings' first Victorian runner since turning 85 yesterday.

Falconer needs only to run up to his impressive last start performance to have Cummings' name back in the winner's list at the venue that he has celebrated five Cox Plate victories.

The gelding broke his maiden status with an emphatic 2-1/4-length win over 1000 metres on Victoria Derby Eve.

That was Falconer's first run since finishing ninth of 15 in the Scone Guineas and was a performance that indicated he would relish the extra 200m of tomorrow night's event.

Michael Rodd takes the ride aboard Falconer, who will start from barrier nine. Among the hardest to beat are Outstandingly, who is back in Victoria after a stint in Queensland, speedy mare Umgeton, the in-form Big Buddie and the capable Louisville Dancer.

The Caravan Industry Victoria Handicap, Race 6 at 9.15pm, is one of the highlights of the eight-race Moonee Valley card.

The meeting also features the fifth heat of the Essendon Mazda 55 Second Challenge, which will see the fillies and mares get their shot at setting the benchmark time in the series that offers a Mazda to the trainer of the horse that covers the quirky 955m journey in the fastest time.

The Matthew Hyland-trained Peninsula Dane, runner-up in the most recent 55 Second heat, is the TAB's $3.80 favourite with Flash Of Doubt ($4) and Melba ($5) considered the biggest dangers in the $55,000 event. (www.racingvictoria.net.au)
