AUSTRALIAN superstar Black Caviar won't, in all likelihood, get the chance to try to lower English wonder horse Frankel's colours at Royal Ascot, but another champion from Down Under might get the opportunity, reports Michael Lynch in The Age.

His report says: Victoria's globetrotting jockey Craig Williams is hoping to be reunited with last year's Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden if the French-trained galloper lines up in the group 1 2000-metre Prince of Wales Stakes on the first day of the royal meeting.

That is the race that many expect to be four-year-old Frankel's first test beyond 1600 metres. Frankel injured himself in a training mishap last week, sparking fears that he might be forced into retirement. But after scans, he was given the all-clear to return to training on Wednesday.

Dunaden will this year seek to prove himself one of the most versatile in the highest class. Although he won the Melbourne Cup over 3200 metres, Williams says connections are hoping he can measure up in the supreme middle distance tests in Europe, events such as the Prince of Wales, the 2400-metre group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot in July and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe over the same trip at Longchamp.
