PROFESSIONAL punter Neville Clements has ignored a direction by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board to produce his telephone records as evidence in the inquiry into up to 10 beaten rides of jockey Dan Nikolic, reports The Age.

It says: Last Friday, the RAD board ruled that although he was not a licenced person, Clements, as a professional punter and commission agent, was bound to comply with a direction of Racing Victoria Ltd stewards to produce telephone records for inspection.

Stewards had given Clements until close of business yesterday to provide the records. The punter's lawyers told stewards yesterday that he would not be providing his telephone records.

''Stewards are considering their options and will not make any further comment at this time,'' stewards said in a statement last night.

Clements, a former bookmaker, was last week charged under Australian racing rule 175 (p) for failing to comply with a direction of stewards to surrender his telephone records.

He was last week named as a person that Nikolic had spoken to frequently on the phone. He was also named as betting heavily against at least eight horses ridden by Nikolic on the betting exchange Betfair.

On Tuesday, the RAD board is due to give its finding on a charge against Nikolic for failing to surrender his mobile phone.
