SUPER mare Black Caviar's withdrawal from Saturday week's Winterbottom Stakes in Perth has presented Darley trainer Peter Snowden with the chance to complete his conquest of Australian group 1 racing, reports The Age.

It says: Snowden is yet to have a runner in the west but he said yesterday that Rarefied would represent the stable in the ''suddenly winnable'' $750,000 group 1 race. A win by the group 2 Salinger Stakes runner-up would give the trainer group 1 winners in all five states that hold the elite races.

''The race became suddenly winnable when Black Caviar came out and, look, Rarefied's a tough horse who has just had two runs back from a spell and Perth is somewhere for him to go,'' Snowden said. ''There's not much more around until Christmas and he's up and running and so we'll try to make the most of it. We looked at the [Perth] carnival a fair way out and nominated about six or seven horses like Pinwheel and Launay, but for varying reasons we've ended up with one. But he should run well.''

Rarefied is a $6 equal third favourite with All Friared Up to take out Perth's richest sprint. The 2009 Winterbottom winner Ortensia is favourite at $2.40 with TAB Sportsbet after her triumphant return to racing at Flemington last week. Perth trainer Jim Taylor has decided against a run for Barakey, who has won all six of his starts, and will send the sprinter for a spell. (www.theage.com.au)
