FULLY aware of the nuances of the tight Doomben track, trainer Peter Moody said the unbeaten champion Black Caviar may even lead in tomorrow's BTC Cup in her bid for a 13th straight victory, reports The Age.

It says: ''There's no doubt if Luke [Nolen] wanted to lead on her then she could be in front,'' Moody said yesterday. ''She showed in Melbourne she can run 10¢ seconds on the bridle and if the other two [Buffering and Hay List] don't want to lead then she can. I wouldn't like to see her give Hay List four lengths like she did when we won the TJ [Smith].''

Black Caviar has settled in third position at her past four outings before beating her rivals, but has led and won in the past just as easily. Black Caviar, who ran down Hay List in the Smith Stakes at Randwick, was well supported again yesterday and was into $1.16 with some betting outlets despite having never raced at Doomben, which is a track that can favour front-runners.

Moody hinted that Black Caviar may have three runs in Queensland to round off her season if she comes through tomorrow's race and the $650,000 group 1 Doomben 10,000 in another two weeks' time. The group 1 Winter Stakes for mares is run in June and would provide Black Caviar with the ideal opportunity to record a world record eight group 1 wins in succession.
