Trainer Garry White is hoping the two-year-olds he sends around at Rosehill on Saturday can measure up to the standard set by Foreign News.

White is going through a re-building phase with 16 of the 25 horses in work at his Hawkesbury stables juveniles.

And Foreign News is at the top of the tree and being aimed towards the Golden Slipper following his debut victory at Randwick on Saturday.

White has three horses nominated for the Rosehill Gardens Events Handicap (1200m) but said debutante In The Cards, was the only definite starter.

"I'll make a decision later in the week between Shadow Miss and Vain Shadow - Vain Shadow is also an acceptor for Gosford on Monday and we could go there with her," White said.

"With the bulk of our horses being two-year-olds it's great that we have a benchmark now because of Foreign News and maybe we might have a good bunch, time will tell.

"But at least we've got something good to measure them by."

The three juveniles White has nominated are by Dane Shadow, the winner of the Group Three 2004 Ming Dynasty (1400m).

Dane Shadow stands at Hobartville Stud which is owned by Grahame Mapp for whom White has been training for around 30 years.

Ironically, Foreign News, a Danehill Dancer gelding defeated Dane Shadow youngster Shellscrape by a half neck in the Randwick win.

"We sold a lot of the Dane Shadows to top trainers like Gai (Waterhouse), Chris Waller and Gary Portelli and they are raving about them," White said.

"And the one thing they seem to have in common is toughness, Dane Shadow's mother Slight Chance was as tough as anything, maybe they get it from her."

In The Cards is out of the Sir Laurence mare Straight Flush and has been given two trials with her last effort a win over Vain Shadow in a 760 metre hitout at Hawkesbury.

"She ran second to Vain Shadow in her first trial and beat her in the next one and shown us plenty of improvement and I expect her to be very competitive on Saturday," White said.

Shadow Miss finished 10th to Our Joan Of Arc in her only start in the Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) in October.

Since then Shadow Miss has had two trials including a short half head second to Horizons, a $10 chance on TAB Sportsbet for next month's Magic Millions Classic on the Gold Coast.

Vain Shadow blundered the start and failed to beat a runner home in her only start on December 13 at Newcastle and was ordered to trial to stewards' satisfaction, which she did at Hawkesbury two days later.

"There's not much between our horses at the moment, they all display some sort of ability, we won't know for sure what they've got until raceday but they are pretty well schooled and will race well," White said.
