Debutantes Lentini and Trounce will be on trial for trips to Queensland when they oppose each other at Canterbury.

The two are among 13 two-year-olds to contest a division of an 1100m event on Tuesday with 12 youngsters in the other.

Trainer Anthony Cummings is already planning to take two-year-olds Pearl Of The Sea and Perfect Rhythm to Brisbane for the winter and hopes Lentini can earn her place on the float.

"She is a nice filly and if she goes well then will join the team for Brisbane," Cummings said.

Both Pearl Of the Sea and Perfect Rhythm ran in Saturday's Group One Champagne Stakes with Perfect Rhythm last of the six runners and Pearl Of The Sea fourth after taking up the early running.

Pearl Of the Sea finished 6-1/4 lengths from the winner Onemorenomore who had four lengths to spare on runner-up Tickets.

"I thought they both went really well," Cummings said.

"They didn't finish too far away and I think they can go well in Queensland."

Lentini will be ridden by Grant Buckley while Hugh Bowman will be aboard the John O'Shea-trained Trounce.

The Grahame Begg-trained Purrpurrlena will race later in the day over 1550 metres after missing Saturday's James H B Carr Stakes.

Begg opted not to put the lightly-raced filly up against the likes of Ortensia in the Listed race.

As it turned out, Ortensia went down by a short half head to the O'Shea-trained Silently on the slow track.

"I thought Saturday's race was just too strong at this stage of her career," Begg said.

Apprentice Daniel Ganderton takes two kilograms off Purrpurrlena's 56 kg when she meets both fillies and mares on Tuesday.

Purrpurrlena has won two and been placed at another two of her five starts.

Her latest effort was a nose victory over Balmont over 1400 metres on March 13 in which Seeking Susan was third and Allabout Glory fourth.

Allabout Glory ran a solid fourth in the James H B Carr with Balmont and Seeking Susan unplaced in the Listed event.
