Nick Williams fears that Bart Cummings is unstoppable with the Melbourne Cup just 10 days away.

Williams, who is the spokesman for connections of Melbourne Cup favourite Efficient owned by his father Lloyd, said Cummings was on target to clean sweep the spring's three headline races.

"I don't think we have got any chance, have we, with Bart winning the Caulfield Cup and now the Cox Plate," Williams said.

"The gods are shining on him."

Cummings won his fourth Cox Plate on Saturday when So You Think led all the way to beat Manhattan Rain and the Williams-owned Zipping.

Williams was also unsuccessful in the Caulfield Cup with C'est La Guerre.

"We will see if we can get a bit of ours back (in the Melbourne Cup) but you wouldn't want to bet against Bart at this point," Williams said.

Efficient, who won the 2007 Melbourne Cup, has been favourite to win the race for a second time since his barnstorming victory in the Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 3.

However Cummings has built a frightening arsenal in his attempt to win his 13th Melbourne Cup.

Caulfield Cup winner and last year's Melbourne Cup winner Viewed spearheads his assault while Roman Emperor, Allez Wonder, Dandaad and Naval Escort are also in line for a Cup start.

Zipping could join Efficient and contest his fourth Melbourne Cup for Williams. He has finished fourth twice and last year was ninth.

Williams said he gave up on Zipping when he was going backwards at the 500 metres in the Cox Plate but he showed what a brave warrior he was to finish third.

"He just ran into two freaks," Williams said.

Williams said So You Think was a potential superstar.

"It is a brave comment but he's better than Octagonal," Williams said.

"You don't do what he's just done.

"I had a good look at him before the race and he is a long way away from growing into his body.

"I think in the autumn you will see something really special."

Octagonal won 10 Group One races including the 1995 Cox Plate as a three-year-old.
