Talented filly Appearance added to trainer Guy Walter's impressive Keith Nolan Classic record with a narrow but impressive victory at Kembla on Sunday.

The three-year-old is owned by Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Australia and is one of the few horses trained outside of Crown Lodge which is run by Peter Snowden.

Appearance's short half-head win over favourite She Goes To Rio was Walter's fourth success in the Group Three 1600m feature for fillies.

Walter had previously won with Floria (2002), Bernicia (2008) and Slapstick (2010) and went in confident Appearance could add her name to the honour roll.

Appearance sprinted home along the inside to grab leader She Goes To Rio with three-quarters of a length to Aliyana Tilde in third.

"This has been a great race for me and it's terrific to win it again, especially with a Darley-owned filly," Walter said.

"They have been very loyal supporters of mine through thick and thin, mostly thin, and I was lucky enough to win this race for them once before with Bernicia.

"I'm just thrilled to have done it again with this filly."

Walter has opted against a Doncaster start for three-year-old Streama following Saturday's Coolmore Classic fifth and she is now set to run in the Group One Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) while Appearance's autumn path is undecided.

"I would have to talk that over with the people at Darley," Walter said.

"I think she's done a great job today. The leader (She Goes To Rio) had its own way in front and she had to run a very quick last 600 metres to win coming from three or four lengths off her.

"This is a smart little filly."

Appearance is still among Australian Oaks nominations but Walter is unsure whether she will run much further than the Nolan distance.

"I was confident she could win today if she ran the mile," the trainer said.

"Will she get further? I don't know.

"I wouldn't rule anything out yet. She could possibly go to the Adrian Knox or the Carbine Club Stakes."

Peter Robl didn't want to lead on the Anthony Cummings-trained She Goes To Rio but said he was left to go to the front when Happy Hussy's rider elected to take a sit.

Robl stacked them up on the favourite and made it a sprint home.

"She's not a natural leader but he got stuck in that position and she did a good job," Cummings said.

"They've run home in 32.8 seconds and she's been beaten a short half-head."

She Goes To Rio will run in the Vinery (2000m) on April 7.
