Trainer Chris Waller has continued his brilliant opening to the new season with an early winning double at Randwick.

Altered Boy gave Waller the brace in the North Sydney Orthopaedic Handicap (1400m) after the victory from Voice Coach in the Mater Hospital Handicap (2000m) on Saturday.

Both horses have now won their last three starts and Waller was full of praise for his staff with the stable landing four wins since the season opener last Saturday at Rosehill where Voice Coach also scored.

Stablemate Strike One kept the winning run going for Waller by scoring on the Kensington track at Randwick on Wednesday.

"You can't do without them (staff), they did a great job last season too, getting us to third in the premiership and I couldn't be happier with the way things have begun this season," Waller said.

Waller admitted that Altered Boy was a surprise packet.

"Sometimes you get on a roll and the horses you don't think will win, win three in a row," he said.

"He's a winter horse coming to the end of his preparation but he has a fitness edge over the better horses coming back and he'll keep racing until he doesn't win a cheque."

Former United Kingdom galloper Voice Coach will be aimed towards the Group One Metropolitan Handicap after backing up for a comfortable win.

Voice Coach, who started the $1.90 favourite, had little trouble defeating Victorian Pacino by 2-3/4 lengths.

Five-year-old Voice Coach had his first start for Waller in May when he finished second to Tagus at Rosehill.

Over the last three years Waller has bought 15 horses in the UK and all but one of the first nine to race in Australia has won.

"I wasn't convinced about him until today, he needed to step up to open company and he did it well. It wasn't the best open company race but I do have a lot of respect for Pacino and now we'll look at the Metropolitan," Waller said.

The Metropolitan (2400m) is at Randwick on October 3.
