Chris Waller will have two runners from his five Tattersall's Club Cup nominations at Randwick on New Year's Day with Alexander Of Hales and Snow Alert to represent the stable.

Alexander Of Hales will back up over 2000 metres from his eighth in Sunday's Summer Cup (2400m) while Snow Alert goes into the race off his third in the Villiers Stakes last Saturday week.

The two are among 18 entries for the Tattersall's Club Cup (2000m) with Summer Cup runners Let Them Have It and Rock Kingdom among them.

Summer Cup runner-up Strike One will be set on a path towards the Auckland Cup in March, Bellagio Wynn, a luckless fifth in the race won by Spechenka, will be set for the Australia Day Cup while Triple Honour will go for a spell after a modest Perth campaign.

"We'll just have the two, Alexander Of Hales and Snow Alert," Waller said.

"They are both well.

"We are still keen to get Strike One to the Auckland Cup. He's a 3200 metre winner already."

Strike One claimed the 3200m Stayers' Cup at Rosehill earlier this year to prompt serious consideration for the New Zealand Group One.

Triple Honour returned east last week after his Perth sojourn and Waller gave thought to another start.

"He came back to Melbourne and we kept him in work for a couple of days but we've decided to spell him," he said.

Among Waller's other entries for the New Year's Day meeting is promising two-year-old Grift who has also been nominated for races at Eagle Farm and the Gold Coast.

A $120,000 yearling raced by the Ingham family, Grift caught the eye with a stylish barrier trial win at Rosehill last week.

While many trainers are trying to avoid Queensland's wet weather, Waller's main concern is the barrier draw with his preferred option to run in Sydney.

"We've kept the options open but the barrier draw will be the important thing," he said.

"If he drew poorly in Sydney then we could take the punt up there.

"He's a Magic Millions horse but whether he gets there, we'll wait and see."

Grift was one of 28 entries for the 1000m two-year-old race at Randwick.

Waller had four runners in the Summer Cup with sixth-placed Beijing Boy in limbo as far as the immediate future is concerned.

"I'm not sure what we'll do with Beijing Boy," Waller said.

"We'll see how he pulls up. It was a tough run in the Summer Cup which is not a good thing for him."
