Velocitea will have a jump-out at Caulfield on Tuesday morning to tune her up for her Group One assignment in the Goodwood in Adelaide.

Trainer Mick Price said he had deliberately kept the mare fresh for the 1200m set-weights plus penalties feature on Sunday week since her second to Rostova in the Group One Robert Sangster Stakes over the same distance at Morphettville on March 20.

Price is after his second Goodwood having won the race with Perfectly Ready in 2006.

The Caulfield trainer won six Group One races in 2008-09 and is hoping Velocitea can break the ice for this season.

"We're a bit down on quality at the moment but this mare is racing very well," Price said.

"She's such a pleasure to train.

"She's the most beautiful mare to have in the stable and she just trains herself.

"I reckon she might only get three or four runs in a campaign and we've kept her fresh for the Goodwood."

Price, who trained his 1200th winner earlier this season, is building his team up again and bought eight yearlings at the Australian Easter Yearling sale in Sydney.

Group One winners Pompeii Ruler, Light Fantastic, Gallica, Alamosa and Bel Mer have all been retired as has the dual Group One placegetter Miss Maren.

Bel Mer was purchased by Patinack Farm for $1.05 million at last week's Easter Broodmare sale.

While Peter Moody is a runaway leader in the Melbourne trainer's premiership with 57 winners, Price is equal sixth on 29 wins with Mick Kent but is only three behind equal second placed David Hayes, Mark Kavanagh and Danny O'Brien.

A four-year-old by Volksraad, Velocitea started her career in New Zealand and won her first two starts as a two-year-old before finishing second in the Champagne Stakes (1200m) at Riccarton in April 2008.

She then found her way to the Flemington stables of the now retired Brian Mayfield-Smith and won two races for him including the Group Three How Now Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield last spring.

Price has had Velocitea for three starts and won two consecutive races with her on her home track at Caulfield before her Sangster second placing.

First-up for Price, the mare won the Group Three Hyderabad Racing Club Stakes (1200m) on February 6 and followed up with another home track win in the Listed Japan Racing Association Stakes (1200m) on February 27.

Velocitea is on the fourth line of betting for the Goodwood at $10 with TAB Sportsbet.

The Mark Kavanagh-trained Catapulted displaced Lucky Secret as favourite with his win in the Group Three D C McKay Stakes (1100m) at Morphettville on Saturday.

Catapulted is at $4.20 with Lucky Secret out to $5.50 from $5.

Price also has $15 shot Gran Sasso in the Goodwood.

The Dehere five-year-old finished seventh, beaten 3-1/4 lengths, in Saturday's Pink Ribbon Cup (1200m) at Caulfield won by Life To The Full.
