Having secured an overdue Group One victory, Turffontein may be given the chance to double the score in less than a week.

Trainer Anthony Cummings says it is not out of the question Turffontein will back up from his Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes victory to tackle Friday night's Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Turffontein has had his share of injury and bad luck over the past couple of years but everything went right at Caulfield on Saturday.

"I nominated him for the Manikato on Saturday morning in case something went wrong in the Rupert Clarke and he is a chance to back up," Cummings said.

"He really deserved that Group One. He has been unlucky not to win one before now.

"He got hurt when I took him to the Telegraph Handicap in New Zealand and had to have six months off.

"That was the longest break he has ever had and it's done him good."

Cummings took Turffontein across the Tasman for the Group One sprint in January in which he finished sixth behind Mufhasa.

At his previous start in the Patinack Farm Classic at Flemington in November he ran second to Swick. His other Group One placings have been a third to Apache Cat in the 2008 Doomben 10,000 and third in the Sir Rupert Clarke later in the year.

Lucky Secret is also scheduled for a quick back-up after a successful hit-and-run trip to Sydney.

Trainer Tony Vasil withdrew him from the McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley on September 12 due to the hard track and sent him to Rosehill for Saturday's Listed Starlight Stakes (1200m).

Despite his awkwardness racing clockwise, Lucky Secret still maintained his withering finish under 60 kilograms to win and set himself up for the Manikato.

"He is the best sprinter I have trained even though Super Elegant was a great horse and won a lot more money," Vasil said.

"But if this horse hadn't had his issues his record would be so much better.

"He deserves a Group One win, he should have won the Oakleigh Plate already."

Lucky Secret was beaten a short head by Swiss Ace in the Oakleigh Plate in February.

Cummings also plans to start BTC Cup winner Duporth in the Manikato while fellow Sydney trainer Chris Waller will have All-Aged Stakes winner Danleigh in the race.

"Danleigh will have a gallop at Moonee Valley on Monday morning to get a look at the track," Waller said.

"I'm very happy with him, he's had two barrier trials to get him ready."
