Tricky Tricky will make his much anticipated debut in Saturday's Talindert Stakes at Flemington with trainer Leon Corstens confident he can live up to his brilliant barrier trial form.

The Danzero colt, a $40,000 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale purchase, cleared away from his rivals to win an 800m Cranbourne trial on Monday by eight lengths in 46.33s.

"I couldn't be more impressed with him," Corstens said.

"He's a nice scopey horse, has good gate speed and I think he'll go really well tomorrow."

Backed from $81 to $14 for the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 20 before Monday's trial, Tricky Tricky was $3 favourite with TAB Sportsbet on Friday for the Listed Talindert (1100m).

He meets three last-start winners in Star Witness ($3.30), Willow Creek ($3.80) and Evidentia ($6).

Meanwhile stablemate Starspangeldbanner, the $3.80 favourite for Saturday's Group One Lightning Stakes, will race in the royal blue and orange colours of Michael Tabor who races many horses in partnership with Coolmore's John and Sue Magnier.

Coolmore has all but finalised a deal to purchase the Caulfield Guineas winner who will be prepared by Aidan O'Brien when he goes to the northern hemisphere to race.

"Coolmore representatives came out and inspected him this week and obviously liked what they saw and he was vetted on Thursday and passed with flying colours," Corstens said.

The handsome chestnut son of 2003 Lightning Stakes winner Choisir has won five of his nine starts to date.
