David Payne will put juveniles Bombay and Gai's Choice to the test on Tuesday when the pair go on trial to make their race debuts.

Payne has nominated both fillies for the 2YO Handicap (1100) at Rosehill on Saturday but first they must prove their readiness in a 900 metre barrier trial at the same venue.

"I'll see how they trial tomorrow and then decide if they run Saturday," Payne said.

"They're nice fillies, they just need some experience.

"If they both trial well then I've got no dramas running them both on Saturday."

The regally bred Bombay is by outstanding sire Encosta De Lago out of Danehill mare Sarasota, a full sister to dual Group One winner and now-sire Fastnet Rock.

Bombay realised $350,000 at the Easter sale in Sydney and finished fifth to stablemate Pacific Swirl at her only previous trial.

General Nediym filly Gai's Choice, an $81,000 purchase, is out of former handy two-year-old Faster Pussycat who was second in the 2004 Illawarra Classic at Kembla and ninth to Dance Hero in that year's Golden Slipper.

The youngster finished runner-up at her only trial appearance and Payne said she had found the right home despite sharing her name with a famous Randwick trainer.

"The owner's wife is called Gai so it's not a reference to her (Gai Waterhouse)," he said with a laugh.

Payne has nominated last start winner Cool Dreamer for a 2400 metre race which has also attracted the entries of promising Chris Waller-trained import Kossack and Queensland Cup winner Cape Breton.

Cool Dreamer contested the AJC Australian Oaks in the autumn and finished down the track but has won three of her subsequent seven starts in lesser grade.

Her latest victory was on the Kensington track when she lumped 58kg and Payne hasn't ruled out starting her in some of the Cup races over the Christmas-New Year period if she keeps racing well.

Stablemates Kimberley Kid and Danza Doll are also on track to run with Payne to decide later this week whether the latter steps out over 1200 or 1400 metres.

"I'll accept for both and see where she draws then decide which way to go," he said.

The former champion South African trainer celebrated a spring carnival win in Melbourne when Centennial Park claimed the Group Three AAMI Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day.

The gelding is now in the spelling paddock and will be aimed at the Doncaster in the autumn.
