The Brisbane winter carnival stocks of visiting trainer Danny Williams are set for a belated lift at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Goulburn-based Williams will saddle up his final Brisbane runner of a long campaign when promising galloper How Much My Love contests the $75,000 Tattersall's Mile.

The race will provide Williams with a chance to salvage a stakes win out of a mainly forgettable time in Queensland.

"The stable hasn't had a lot of luck with a number of setbacks and injuries," Williams said.

Among Williams' misfortunes was the loss of lightly-raced galloper Proclaimer because of an encounter with a stingray.

Proclaimer, despite his maiden status, was on a Queensland Derby preparation.

"We often take our horses to the beach near Deagon and one day Proclaimer stood on a stingray," Williams said.

"It was freakish to say the least. The horse had to have an operation to remove the barb from his foot and he'll be out for six months."

How Much My Love also encountered a setback which put paid to any chance the four-year-old had of making a Stradbroke Handicap bid.

"I had to give him a let-up because of a bruised heel after he won at Eagle Farm," Williams said.

How Much My Love ran a creditable sixth of 12 when he resumed in the Glasshouse Handicap at the Sunshine Coast on July 3.

"I thought his run was very good considering he missed start," Williams said.

Williams will saddle up three midweek runners at Eagle Farm on Wednesday before ending his northern stint after How Much My Love runs on Saturday.

The Tattersall's Mile, which carries Listed status, attracted 13 entries when nominations closed on Monday.

Among them was wet track specialist Rockdale, winner of the Group One TJ Smith in 2008 but without a victory since last year's Rough Habit Plate.
