Trainer Kelso Wood will confer with owner David Devine before deciding whether Zero Rock will start from a horror barrier at Doomben.

Zero Rock drew barrier 22 in Saturday's BDO Kendalls Handicap, a 1200-metre race restricted to three-year-olds.

Wood hasn't ruled out a spring campaign in Sydney for Zero Rock but wants to see her find her best form before considering taking her away.

Zero Rock won five of her first six starts before she mysteriously lost form at the start of her Brisbane winter carnival campaign.

The Danzero filly has always shown huge potential but failed to figure in the placings in three starts last preparation.

After resuming against her own age with a close fourth over 1200 metres at Eagle Farm in April, Zero Rock finished fourth again to Belong To Many in the Listed Silk Stocking (1200m) at the Gold Coast on May 2.

Wood persevered with her winter plans before calling a halt after she finished 10th to Ortensia in the Listed Glenlogan Park Stud Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on May 16.

"She ran a good fourth first-up but the track was so hard when she got beaten in the Silk Stocking she bruised her feet," Wood said.

"Her last run was too bad so I backed off her and missed the rest of the winter."

Wood hasn't lost faith in Zero Rock who he considered sending to Melbourne last year for the Group One Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield.

"I still think she's capable of winning a Group One somewhere but I just want to get her right before we look at anything bigger," Wood said.

"Unfortunately she's got a bad barrier on Saturday and I'm not sure what to do yet.

"She could still start but I'll need to talk with David Devine first.

"There's no rush with her as we haven't got anything planned as yet and there's plenty of options.

"There's a chance I might step her up to open company over 1200 metres at Doomben next week."

Devine also part-owns stablemate Pinpoint Accuracy who is spelling to prepare for next year's Group One Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm.

Pinpoint Accuracy, the winner of her last two starts, is also part-owned by former Brisbane Lions AFL coach Leigh Matthews.
