Rob Heathcote is not a trainer who places too much emphasis on race times but Woorim is his exception ahead of the Listed Glasshouse Handicap at Caloundra.

Heathcote decided to throw Woorim in at the deep end in Saturday's 1400-metre $175,000 feature following the four-year-old's win in a restricted race over the same distance at Eagle Farm last week.

Woorim's time for the journey was only fractionally outside that clocked by Melito in her Group One Winter Stakes victory.

Damian Browne was aboard Woorim for the fifth win of his career but Stathi Katsidis will have the mount in the Glasshouse.

"I'm not a trainer who places an emphasis on race times but Woorim's time was only just outside the time Melito clocked in the Winter Stakes," Heathcote said.

"That has given me the extra confidence for this race and Damian was rather kind to him over the final stages last week.

"I know I'm throwing him in at the deep end but on times he deserves his chance to be in this race.

"I think he's a very underrated horse and I'm confident he can take the next step."

Melito clocked 1:21.83 last Saturday, only 0.02 seconds faster than Woorim's time earlier in the day.

Woorim will jump from barrier nine in the Glasshouse but Heathcote doesn't believe the alley will worry the son of Show A Heart.

"It's a big track so the alley shouldn't worry him," he said.

"He won with a lot of authority at Doomben first-up and I've got a few other races coming up for him after this race.

"He's got an explosive finish and there's always a lot of speed in the Glasshouse which will suit him."

The Listed Ascot Handicap (1200m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday week could also be on Woorim's agenda if he performs well in the Glasshouse.

Woorim was bred by owner Ross Cutts who raced his sire, multiple Group One winner Show A Heart.

Heathcote is uncertain how Woorim will handle a slow track and rates Kiwi sprinter King Mufhasa as his main danger.

"King Mufhasa is an awesome horse who was a Horse of the Year in New Zealand," he said.

"His record is impeccable and his Stradbroke run was great.

"King Mufhasa has 60 kilos and is giving away a lot of weight but he's deserved it."

King Mufhasa led from a wide alley in last month's Group One Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm and fought on strongly to finish seventh, less than two lengths from the winner Black Piranha.
