Cranbourne trainer Chris Hyland says Tibooburra Travis is "humming" ahead of his assault on Wednesday's $100,000 Galleywood Hurdle at Warrnambool.

The Tasmanian stayer is in his second season of jumping since he was sent to Hyland.

The gelding, by Sealed Bid, had two jumps starts late last season for a third to Tadgh in a Sandown 3300m hurdle in August before winning a Warrnambool maiden hurdle (3200m) on September 1 then going for a spell.

The 3200m Galleywood will be Tibooburra Travis' first jumps start this season but he has been flying on the flat, winning the Yarra Valley Cup (1950m) in March and a 2425m open handicap at Caulfield on April 17.

Last start the six-year-old was fourth to Ajhar over 2600m at Flemington on Anzac Day.

"He's humming. I wouldn't think there would be any jumper going better than him on the flat," Hyland said.

"I thought his effort at Flemington was pretty good for a horse that's going jumping. He's not going to run into those horses over the jumps."

Hyland was happy with Tibooburra Travis' soft hurdle trial when fourth of five to Sarchochilus over 2800m at Stony Creek on April 8.

"He trialled well at Stony Creek and hopefully he can put it all together and give me some excitement at Warrnambool because he might be my only runner," he said.

Hyland is shooting for his second Galleywood success having won the feature with Weeping Willow in 2008.

He said Tibooburra Travis, who had won six races up to 2100m in Tasmania prior to his owners sending him to the mainland, had been disadvantaged by racing in Tasmania where there were not many staying races.

"He could be quite exciting because he'll stay all day," he said.

"He's a good type for a jumper. He's not too big, he's a neat sort of a horse."

Tibooburra Travis will be ridden by Trent Wells who won the race for Hyland on Weeping Willow two years ago.

Among the opposition is last year's winner Desert Master who carried 64kg 12 months ago but has topweight of 68kg this time.

The grey was prepared by Russell Cameron for last year's Galleywood before being transferred to Robbie Laing who won the 2009 Grand National Hurdle (4530m) at Sandown with him last August before he went for a spell.

Desert Master will again be ridden by Adam Trinder.

It is a quality field of 11 runners with Oakbank Yalumba Hurdle winner Art Success, Yamanaura, Black And Bent, Tradesman's Choice, Sirrocean Storm and the promising Grizz all engaged.
