While his younger brother Predatory Pricer has signalled he will be a force this spring, Takeover Target is continuing his recovery from a career-ending injury in England.
Predatory Pricer drew first blood on the road to the major features with victory over Whobegotyou in Saturday's Liston Stakes.
His older half-brother underwent surgery in England after breaking a cannon bone as he was winding down from his seventh in the July Cup at Newmarket.
Takeover Target's trainer Joe Janiak has returned to Australia and accepted two trophies honouring the champion sprinter at last week's NSW 2008-09 awards.
"He should be back home in two months," Janiak said.
"He is recovering well from the injury and being spoilt in the stable at Newmarket.
"After another month, he will then spend a month in quarantine and come home.
"The vets are really pleased with how things have gone."
Shady Stream, the dam of Takeover Target and Predatory Pricer, was named the NSW Broodmare of the year for the feats of her two sons.
Although he has yet to win a Group One race, Predatory Pricer has a second placing in the Spring Champion Stakes and third in the AJC Australian Derby to his credit.
Takeover Target won nine Group One races during his career, the furthest over the 1350 metres of the Doomben 10,000.
He performed at the highest level in Australia and overseas and visited England four times.
A movie is set to be made about the gelding who cost Janiak $1,250 plus GST as an educated but unraced horse when his trainer lived in a caravan on Queanbeyan Racecourse.
The Paul Murray-trained Predatory Pricer did not go through the sale ring and is raced by a group which includes his breeder Tony Hartnell.
At this year's Easter sale, Murray paid $425,000 for a yearling half brother to the pair.
Takeover Target's earnings of just over $6 million have enabled Janiak to buy his own stable complex at Coffs Harbour in the Northern Rivers region of NSW where his champion will reside on his return home.
