Owner Frank Tagg and jockey Glen Boss will be reunited when promising Queensland filly Moncalieri makes her Sydney debut in the Listed Reginald Allen Handicap at Randwick on Saturday.

Moncalieri will be on trial for a start in the Group One Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday week and a trip to Melbourne when she steps out in the 1400-metre feature for fillies.

The Group One Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 14 and the Group One VRC Oaks (2500m) at Flemington on November 5 have been pencilled in for the daughter of Encosta De Lago.

Trainer Brian Smith sent Moncalieri to Sydney with stablemate Hume who finished a courageous sixth to Miss Marielle in last Saturday's Group Two Hill Stakes (1900m) at Rosehill.

Smith picked out Moncalieri at the Sydney Easter sales on behalf of Tagg who outlaid $300,000 for the filly.

Although her only win in five starts was as a two-year-old in April, Smith has a big opinion of her and was delighted when Boss accepted the ride on the filly.

"It's good to have a rider like G Boss on her and hopefully he can give us a good report after riding her on Saturday," Smith said.

"Glen has been associated with Frank a lot over the years and rode Haradasun in a couple of his early wins for him."

Boss had a perfect record on Haradasun, winning his only two rides on him when the shuttle stallion was a three-year-old in the Group One George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill and Group One Doncaster Handicap at Randwick in 2007.

Haradasun and former champion Elvstroem are both progeny of Circles Of Gold who Smith trained when she won the AJC Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick in 1995.

Circles Of Gold was also runner-up to Arctic Scent in the 1996 Caulfield Cup.

Smith was forced to chase a rider for Moncalieri after regular jockey Scott Galloway decided to ride at Doomben on Saturday.

"How she goes on Saturday will tell us where we will head with her," Smith said.

"I flew down to Sydney to watch Hume run last Saturday and I stayed on to see how this filly galloped at Newcastle this morning.

"She worked well and I've nominated her for the Thousand Guineas and Oaks in Melbourne.

"If she doesn't go to Melbourne then she'll go home and get ready for the autumn next year."

Moncalieri has already surpassed Smith's expectations.

"She surprised me the day she won her first start as a two-year-old and we know she's a stayer," he said.

Moncalieri was doing her best work late when she made her comeback when eighth, less than four lengths from promising filly Femina Fashion over 1200 metres at Eagle Farm 10 days ago.

Femina Fashion and fellow Gold Coast filly Motown Lady are also nominated for the Reginald Allen.
