Two Sydney-trained horses have figured in Magic Millions plunges as punters continue to shun unbeaten Queensland filly Paprika in latest pre-post betting.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Horizons and Gary Portelli's Koblenz were backed across the country on Monday on the eve of acceptances for Saturday's $2 million race at the Gold Coast.

"Paprika is drifting with every bookmaker in the country," a TAB Sportsbet spokesman said.

"With the exception of Horizons, for us, betting on the race has virtually stood still."

The winner of four races, Paprika tightened into an odds-on quote last week but she has eased to $2.60.

A TAB Sportsbet punter had $4,000 on Horizons at $12 while Koblenz has been heavily backed with corporate bookmakers.

Koblenz, a Corey Brown ride, has firmed from $16 to $12 with most corporates but remains a $14 chance with TAB Sportsbet.

Sydney's in-form jockey Glyn Schofield has been left without a mount with Brown confirmed for Koblenz.

Schofield was hoping to continue an association with the filly after he rode her into second placing at Randwick on Boxing Day.

Koblenz was forced to cover ground around the turn before she was beaten in a tight finish by another Magic Millions hopeful Shadow Assassin.

Shadow Assassin, aided by a clever Damien Oliver ride, saved ground into the straight before bursting between runners.

Shadow Assassin is a $10 chance in latest betting.

Brown rode Koblenz when she finished second on debut at Wyong earlier last month.

Schofield, Sydney's in-form jockey, now faces the prospect of missing out on a Magic Millions ride but he still has a strong book for the meeting.

He will ride the Portelli-trained Belle Soleil in the Magic Millions Trophy and has picked the mount on last-start Rosehill placegetter Light Red in the Magic Millions Cup.

With many of Sydney's leading riders sidelined because of injury or suspension, Schofield has cemented his place near the top of the premiership table.

He sits third on 31 winners and his golden run has been highlighted by Christmas Cup and Summer Cup wins on Ready To Lift and the Tattersalls Cup on Tommifrancs.

Meanwhile, favourable weather conditions are forecast on the Gold Coast for Tuesday and Wednesday but showers are expected on Friday and race morning.

Saturday's Gold Coast meeting was run on a bog track when torrential rain fell in the hours leading into the meeting.

The rail for next Saturday's star-studded card will moved out 1.5 metres to avoid the inside section of the track which was badly-affected.
