Leading Sydney apprentice Daniel Ganderton will front stewards with his boss Gai Waterhouse on Wednesday at the resumption of an inquiry into tactics he used on a horse and the attitude he displayed at the initial hearing.

The runaway leader in the battle for the junior riders' title, Ganderton was questioned at Rosehill on Saturday over his actions on runner-up Shagerz in the BP Woodward Handicap.

Ganderton was called to answer questions about shifting out on the Les Bridge-trained gelding but it was his attitude that caused the most concern.

Waterhouse had already left the track and stewards adjourned the inquiry to allow her to accompany Ganderton to the next hearing.

Chief steward Ray Murrihy said Ganderton's attitude was appalling after he laughed at the suggestion he was not being dictated to by horses on his inside.

Murrihy also said he showed a lack of respect for the stewards' inquiry and informed him he faced two inquiries - one into the race and the other into his demeanour.

Last year, Waterhouse imposed a two-week penalty on Ganderton when he was late to a race meeting after sleeping in.

Ganderton has ridden 40 Sydney winners this season, 14 more than 2007-08 champion Peter Wells.
