In-form jockey Blake Shinn has been confirmed as the new rider for top-class Sydney sprinter All Silent.

Trainer Grahame Begg confirmed Shinn's spring booking after the Melbourne Cup-winning jockey partnered All Silent for the first time in a Warwick Farm barrier trial on Monday morning.

"There are not too many jockeys riding better than Blake at the moment," Begg said.

All Silent hasn't raced since his fifth placing in a Group Three sprint in Dubai in March when ridden by Corey Brown.

Previously, Nick Hall was in the saddle during a 2009 Melbourne spring campaign which culminated in a Group One win in the Patinack Farm Classic.

The Melbourne jockey also rode the $1.5 million earner in the Hong Kong Sprint in December and the Newmarket Handicap during the autumn.

Begg has mapped out a similar two-start campaign to the one which netted two wins for the seven-year-old 12 months ago.

The Randwick trainer has again targeted the Patinack Farm Classic on the final day of the Melbourne Cup carnival but he has changed tack slightly with the sprinter's first-up run.

Instead of the Gilgai Stakes which All Silent won last year, Begg has his sights set on the Group One Manikato Stakes under lights at Moonee Valley on September 24.

"The Manikato is run eight days before the Gilgai so the timing of his campaign is almost the same as last year," Begg said.

"If it looks like the Manikato is going to be run on a bog track then Gilgai is a race I could fall back on."

All Silent, who will be chasing his third Flemington spring Group One win in as many years after living up to his potential in the 2008 Emirates Stakes, finished at the rear in his trial but was given the easiest time possible against seven rivals.

"Basically I wanted the horse to have a day out and that's exactly how it worked out," Begg said.

"He went around without the blinkers ... it was an easy 800-metre trial."

Begg said All Silent would trial again at Warwick Farm on September 10 before being sent to Melbourne.

Stablemate Palacio De Cristal is scheduled to make her first public appearance of the spring during the same set of trials.

Her main assignments are also in Melbourne, with the Myer Classic and the Emirates Stakes at Flemington both target races.
