Juvenile Shadows In The Sun can showcase his claims for another shot at Group One company when he steps out at Rosehill on Saturday.

The gelding has been nominated for the Group One TJ Smith (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 12 but needs to stand up and be counted this weekend to earn a trip north.

"The plan is to go to the TJ but if he doesn't do something this weekend he won't get in," trainer Anthony Cummings said.

Shadows In The Sun remains a maiden after five starts but Cummings believes the gelding's immaturity has proved costly on several occasions.

Two starts ago he had little luck when ninth to Skilled in the Group One Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick, running on from last to be beaten just over two lengths.

He then dropped back in distance to 1300m and was again doing his best work late for third to American Crew and No Hesitation at Rosehill on May 8.

"He's been his own worst enemy a couple of times but the other day he didn't have much luck in the run and the jockey made a tactical error at the furlong (200m)," Cummings said.

"I'll be pleased to see him get the right run and if he does he has easily got the ability to win a race like that on Saturday."

Shadows In The Sun, to be ridden by apprentice Brenton Avdulla, is one of 19 entries for the 2YO Handicap (1400m) along with the two gallopers who beat him home last start.

The feature race on the program is the Listed WJ McKell Cup (2400m) which has attracted 11 entries headed by Common Objective and Music Review who finished first and second respectively in the Lord Mayors Cup last start.

Cummings will also be well represented in Brisbane where Road To Rock is one of the top fancies for Saturday's Group One Doomben Cup (2020m).

Enigmatic mare Prima Nova has been entered for the Lord Mayor's Cup (1615m) and Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) with Cummings favouring a start in the former.

Stablemate Ambitious Princess will round out her preparations for the Queensland Oaks in the Group Three Doomben Roses (2020m) with Stathi Katsidis to ride.

The filly settled among the tailenders in the Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) last start before closing strongly for fifth to Femina Fashion.

"She hit the line really well last start and I reckon she'll run a good race on the weekend," Cummings said.

"Part of the problem the other day was she drew awkwardly so we had to go back to get cover.

"If she draws well she doesn't need to get that far back."
