Talented filly Set For Fame made an impressive return to racing after suffering a bleeding attack last spring when she won Kevin Hayes Stakes at Caulfield.

The only filly in Peter Moody's stable who can keep up with star stablemate Black Caviar, Set For Fame hadn't raced since running second to subsequent Thousand Guineas winner Irish Lights in the Group Three Tranquil Star Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 19.

Set For Fame had to serve the mandatory three-month ban after bleeding in that race and Moody was relieved after she landed her first stakes win in the Listed 1200m event on Tuesday.

Moody said the intention was for the filly to be ridden to travel and he was surprised when she went to the front.

With stable jockey Luke Nolen aboard, Set For Fame ($3.80) went keenly early but superior to her six rivals in the final stages, scoring by 2-1/2 lengths from Aloha ($2.15 fav) with Dystopia ($10) three-quarters of a length away third.

"She's a hell of a good filly. She's always been in our top echelon but unfortunately she had that bleeding attack in the spring and thankfully there is no issue of it today.

"She's the only horse in the yard we've been able to train with Black Caviar and they did all their early preparation together and they both kicked off on the same day."

Set For Fame won a Hamilton two-year-old maiden by seven lengths on April 18 last year, the same day Black Caviar won by five lengths on debut at Flemington.

"She's a top class filly in the making. I really believe that," Moody said.

"This filly definitely has the scope to get out to a mile whereas there is a question mark about Black Caviar regarding that.

"Whether we go to the Australian Guineas or stick to the fillies races and maybe try and head towards a race like the Coolmore, but that's all a fair way down the track."

The Moody-trained Typhoon Tracy won the Kevin Hayes Stakes last year before going on to win the Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill and the Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington, both at Group One level.
