Kerrin McEvoy will head to Melbourne on Tuesday to put star colt Sepoy through his paces in his final major hitout before he resumes in Saturday's Vain Stakes at Caulfield.
Sydney-based McEvoy ventured to Victoria last Friday week to ride the Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond winner in a jump-out and said he was delighted with the colt's progress ahead of his highly-anticipated spring return.
"I'll be going down to ride him in work on Tuesday morning," McEvoy said.
"I rode him in the jump-out at Werribee recently and he went well there and I'll be there for his last main hitout (on Tuesday) as well. I'm looking forward to his return."
Sepoy is set to be crowned champion two-year-old for 2010-11 following five wins from six starts including the Group One double of the Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper.
His only defeat came in the Group Two Todman Stakes when second to Smart Missile in wet conditions, two weeks before his Slipper triumph.
Sepoy ventured back to Melbourne from Darley's Sydney base two weeks ago having spent the majority of his short racing life in Victoria.
While Sepoy takes aim in the Listed Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield, Kindergarten Stakes winner Anise will be the Darley team's representative in Saturday's Group Three San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill.
Stablemate Helmet will begin his preparations for Group One spring riches in a barrier trial at Warwick Farm on Thursday.
Winner of the Group One Sires' Produce Stakes and Group One Champagne Stakes as a two-year-old, Helmet is being readied for his return in the Group Three Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill on August 27 ahead of the Group One Golden Rose (1400m) on September 10.
Helmet is at $5.50 with TAB Sportsbet for the Golden Rose with unlikely runner Sepoy favourite at $4 ahead of Smart Missile ($4.60) who trialled impressively at Randwick last Friday.
Saturday's Listed Rosebud Quality winner Aeronautical is at $11 for the Golden Rose.
The Darley team, under trainer Peter Snowden, captured all five Group One juvenile races last season with Benfica claiming the TJ Smith in Brisbane to join Sepoy and Helmet at the elite level.
