Mike Moroney has spring aspirations for nicely bred two-year-old Sabrage who makes his debut at Caulfield on Saturday.

The Charge Forward colt, a $200,000 yearling, is out of Maroof mare Galoof making him a half-brother to Glasshouse Handicap winner and Doncaster placegetter Pinnacles.

Moroney prepared Galroof to win four races including the 2002 Group Three Doomben Classic (1615m).

She was runner-up in the Group Two Queensland Guineas (1600m), Group One Doomben Cup (2200m) and Queensland Derby (2400m) but didn't race again after that winter campaign.

"He's a lovely type of colt," Moroney said of Sabrage.

"He's won a jumpout at Werribee and looked a little bit new. When he got to the front he gawked around and did a little bit wrong.

"He's a horse that the further they go the better he is going to be.

"Just whether he can use that one barrier is going to be a bit of a question mark tomorrow.

"But he's a really nice horse and he's one of the ones we like for the spring.

"He does possess a fair bit of talent.

"We're going to give him this run and then possibly give him a break."

Lisa Cropp, who has ridden four winners for Moroney at the past four city meetings including a double at Sandown on Wednesday, will ride Sabrage in the Swettenham Stud Hcp (1200m).

Meanwhile Elumino makes her comeback to racing in the Heather Heron Hcp (1100m) and trainer Peter Moody expects a bold showing from her.

"She went to stud but didn't get in foal," Moody said.

"We retired her as she had a lot of wear and tear in the joints and knees and we thought she'd genuinely come to the end of it.

"We've brought her back and it's the soundest she's been in two years."

Saturday's event is the second of seven heats of the 2011 All Victorian Sprint Series of which Elumino won the 2010 final over 1200 metres at Flemington last July.

"She has had a long time off but she has done a lot of work with Peter Clark at Murchison and she's been at Caulfield for the last five weeks.

"Her trials and work have been super. She's getting around like a spring three-year-old.

"Common sense tells you that she should need the run but she's going well and will run a cheeky race."

Linda Meech will ride Elumino who hasn't raced since finishing ninth to Shoot Out in the Bletchingly Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on July 31 last year.

However the five-year-old has won three of her four first-up runs, is unbeaten in two 1100m runs and has won two of her three outings on her home track at Caulfield.

The $150,000 final of the All Victorian Sprint Series is run on July 9.
