Stakeswinning mare Royal Commands will be looking to build on her record at Moonee Valley and head off her pending sale at next week's Australian Weanling and Bloodstock Sale.

Owned by Barrie and Midge Griffiths, the four-year-old is catalogued for the second day of the Sydney sale on Thursday but is a good chance to be withdrawn if she can win Saturday's fourth heat of the Banjo Paterson series, the Gillies Country Cup (2040m).

Trained by Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra, Royal Commands is showing good staying promise and was an impressive winner last start when she easily beat Zoomin who again looks her main danger at the Valley.

"Where she goes and what she does is dependent on her performance on Saturday," Zahra said.

"If she comes out and wins tomorrow she probably won't go to the sale but if she goes ordinary he (Griffiths) will probably send her."

Royal Commands has won three of her 19 starts but Zahra said it was only now that she was starting to realise her potential.

After three close-up performances in a row at Flemington she rewarded connections over 2100m at Sandown on June 4 at her first test beyond 1700m.

"When she was racing at Flemington they just kept flushing her out early all the time but at Sandown over more ground she was able to sit longer and really showed that good turn of foot that's she got," Zahra said.

"She seems to enjoy bobbing along outside the leader in that frontrunning style and she will probably do the same again tomorrow and try and dictate a bit.

"She has made good improvement and we are pleased the way she is going.

"It doesn't look an overly-strong race and Zoomin is probably the one to beat with a weight turn around."

Royal Commands will be ridden by Chris Symons and rises two kilos to 55kg while Cranbourne trainer Mick Kent has engaged in-form three kilogram-claiming apprentice Daniel Stackhouse for Zoomin who drops 1.5kg to 56kg.

"Zoomin had good sectionals late last start but she (Royal Commands) is learning her craft a bit and seems a lot better now," Zahra said.
