Peter Robl's chances of returning to the saddle next month have received a huge boost, with his specialist giving him the all clear on Tuesday to commence physiotherapy on his injured neck.

Robl, who rides for Nathan Tinkler's Patinack Farm thoroughbred empire, has been wearing a neck brace since December 10 after suffering a fractured vertebra in a three-horse pile-up at Rosehill.

"The X-rays have come back all clear, so the neck brace is gone thankfully," Robl said.

"I've been wearing it 24-hours a day since the fall and it's been hard work with all of this hot weather, it's like wearing a scarf.

"I have to do a couple of weeks of physio and then at the end of that I'll have a catscan on February 10 and if that comes back all clear I'll be able to commence riding work straight away."

Robl said the best-case scenario would be a return to the races at Rosehill on February 21 for Apollo Stakes day.

"I can't wait to get back out there and ride those nice Patinack Farm horses again," Robl said.
