Newcastle trainer Kris Lees believes there will be enough speed in the Group Two Reisling Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday for Elimbari to put her best foot forward as she chases a spot in the Golden Slipper.

Lees believes Elimbari needs to finish in the first three in the Reisling to guarantee a place in the $3.5 million Golden Slipper on Easter Saturday.

And with fillies such as Solar Charged, Military Rose and Psychologist engaged in the Reisling, Lees is certain he's going to get a very good idea of where Elimbari sits in the two-year-old pecking order heading towards the major Group One races.

"It's going to be a good test," Lees said.

"I think it will be a good guide as to whether she's good enough to push on to the Golden Slipper, and she'll probably need to finish in the first three to get in anyway."

Elimbari currently sits 20th in the prizemoney order of entry for the Slipper.

The Fastnet Rock filly, a three-quarter sister to former outstanding juvenile Amelia's Dream, was an impressive winner on debut at Rosehill back in January.

Lees then gave the filly a let-up before bringing her back in the Group Three Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) at Warwick Farm on March 6 when she ran into the current Golden Slipper favourite Solar Charged.

Despite being beaten 4-1/2 lengths into second, Lees took plenty out of that performance to suggest she'll improve significantly in the Reisling stepping up to 1200m for the first time.

"It's a small field on Saturday but she's got a nice draw (barrier two) and it still looks as though it will be run at a genuine tempo with the first three in the betting all on-pace type horses," he said.

"It should be a genuinely-run 1200 metres at Rosehill which will give us a good guide.

"She went into the Kindergarten without a trial and that definitely brought her on pretty well."

The trainer, who won the Group One Champagne Stakes with top filly Samantha Miss two years ago, also believes Elimbari will be even better suited getting to 1400m and has planned her preparation to try to take in the triple crown races of the Golden Slipper, Sires' Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes.

"I took out of the Kindergarten that the winner (Solar Charged) is very smart," Lees said.

"But I also saw positive signs from our filly. She was underdone and was still able to run second after it looked on straightening like she'd run fourth or fifth. So that was encouraging and we've added the blinkers to her this week."

Elimbari is currently a $13 chance for the Golden Slipper with TAB Sportsbet while Solar Charged is favourite at $4.60, Military Rose is at $8 and Psychologist $15.
