Trainer Chris Waller has been meticulous in his Epsom Handicap preparation for Rangirangdoo and an ideal barrier draw has provided the icing on the cake.

The Tramway Handicap winner firmed into $3 favouritism with TAB Sportsbet after coming up with gate two for Saturday's Group One feature.

Top jockey Corey Brown, who won the 2003 Epsom aboard Clangalang, has the ride and with Rangirangdoo as fit as Waller can get him, the Rosehill horseman figures his charge ticks all the right boxes.

"He is as fit as I can get him and he's got a good draw and a good jockey," Waller said.

"Now he's got to take that next step up."

Rangirangdoo failed by a short half-head to overhaul Drumbeats in the Shannon Stakes last start and the pair will face a rematch in the Epsom.

Drumbeats, who has drawn barrier nine, was the $4.40 second elect on Wednesday with last Saturday's George Main Stakes winner Road To Rock (barrier seven) at $6 and O'Lonhro (barrier four) at $8.

Jay Ford, best known as the jockey of champion sprinter Takeover Target, has been aboard O'Lonhro in each of his runs this campaign and says barrier four is "perfect" for his mount.

The four-year-old, who is trained in partnership by John, Wayne and Michael Hawkes, claimed the Chelmsford Stakes over the Randwick mile two starts ago and was sent out favourite in the Shannon but could manage only fifth to Drumbeats.

It was the first time he had missed a place in six starts and Ford warned punters not to drop off him based on that effort.

"I know the Hawkes camp is very happy with the way he's progressed from his last start," Ford said.

"Back to Randwick over a mile (1600m) on a big, open track with a full field and a good genuine speed he should be right in this.

"The run (in the Shannon) was very forgivable.

"It was a small field, they went slowly up in front and really dashed home from the top of the straight which doesn't suit him.

"From where he was, he wasn't in a position to really get going and he was a little bit flat-footed.

"The key is a good tempo and a big field and that should help get him back to his best."

Weights for the Epsom had to be raised two kilos to reach the required minimum topweight of 57kg with Rangirangdoo's stablemate Triple Honour to carry the number one saddlecloth.
