The decision to scratch Vision And Power from the Expressway Stakes sits well with trainer Joe Pride who will use a 1200m barrier trial at Warwick Farm on Monday as a substitute.

Pride withdrew the dual Group One winner from Saturday's Group Two Expressway (1200m) due to the extreme heat and firm track.

The eight-year-old is now scheduled to resume in the Group Two Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on February 19.

"I didn't want to knock him around in the heat," Pride said.

"He has always resumed at 1400 metres anyway so that's not a problem.

"It's a shame he missed the Expressway because he is going so well and I thought if the conditions had been right he would have been right in it."

The Expressway produced a minor upset when Centennial Park got the better of the two favoured runners Love Conquers All and Hot Danish.

Jim Cassidy rode Love Conquers All and Pride was not sure if he would be available to reunite with Vision And Power.

"I'll just wait and see, Jimmy may be on Love Conquers All if he runs in the Apollo," he said.

While he is looking forward to more forgiving tracks for Vision And Power, Pride is also hoping the sting is out of the ground for Sacred Choice who resumes in the Saturday's Breeders Classic (1200m) at Randwick.

She is scheduled to run in the Warwick Farm barrier trials as is new stable acquisition Miss Keepsake, winner of the Queensland Oaks.

"I'll have two runners in the mares' race, the Breeders Classic, and I'm excited about both of them," he said.

"Sacred Choice is going very well and I'm keen to see what Miss Keepsake can do."

Although four of her eight wins have been on good tracks, Sacred Choice has shown superior ability in the wet, most notably when she ran away with the Group One Myer Classic last spring, leaving Typhoon Tracy languishing in second place.

Miss Keepsake was trained by New Zealander Andrew Scott when she scored an upset win in the Queensland Oaksafter race favourite Dariana was left standing at the gates when she put her head into an adjoining stall.

Dariana made no mistakes next time out in the Queensland Derby but Miss Keepsake showed she was no flash in the pan with her third.

Miss Keepsake was unplaced in three spring starts in New Zealand before she was transferred to Pride's Sydney stable.
