The signs are all positive for trainer Kelly Schweida who is confident Plain Magic can continue her winning streak in the Sun Ray Systems Quality at Doomben.

Plain Magic caused a minor upset when she completed a winning hat-trick by ending Toowoomba mare Chakvetadze's unbeaten run in the Listed Nudgee Quality (1200m) at Eagle Farm on January 23.

The daughter of Magic Albert, who has six wins from 14 starts, sat off the pace behind Chakvetadze, who was chasing her eighth win, and quickly had her measure when she challenged in the straight.

Plain Magic will meet Chakvetadze on two kilograms worse terms for the same 1200-metre trip on Saturday but Schweida couldn't be happier with his mare.

"She's done well since her last run and she's been really bright this week," he said.

"There's no signs she's trained off and I'm expecting another big run."

Plain Magic is owned by Brisbane Racing Club chairman and Racetree Stud principal Kevin Dixon who gave some thought to sending her to Sydney for the autumn.

"I had a look at some of the fillies and mares race in Sydney but the winter carnival in Brisbane fitted in better," Dixon said.

"If she went to Sydney I doubt she would be available for the winter."

Schweida and Dixon have long-range plans to target the Group One Winter Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm in June with Plain Magic.

Schweida's only Group One success was with Nova Star in the 2008 Winter Stakes.

"This will probably be her last run before she goes out for a break," Schweida said.

"She'll come back in time to run in the Silk Stocking but she's got to find a length or two for the Winter Stakes."

The Listed Silk Stocking (1200m) will be run at the Gold Coast on May 8.

Schweida expects rival trainer Michael Nolan will change tactics on Chakvetadze who led when she weakened to finish sixth when the pair clashed last start.

"I doubt Chakvetadze will be leading this time but we won't be changing anything and we'll be on the pace again," Schweida said.

Stathi Katsidis is the new rider for Chakvetadze, replacing Larry Cassidy.

Cassidy was dumped by the mare's owner although he rode to instructions to lead last start.

Nolan has rekindled plans to send Chakvetadze to Sydney for fillies and mares races during the autumn if the four-year-old regains winning form.

Cassidy will partner the Kevin Kemp-trained Dance Girl Dance who has been given a reprieve from retirement following her last-start fifth to Cattleman at Caloundra on January 10.

"We thought about retiring her after her last run and put her out but she was bucking her brand off two days after so I brought her back in," Kemp said.

"I'm pleased she's in this race and she's freshened up well.

"She's a very good chance."
