Jockey Mark Pegus has suffered a fractured wrist and is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks following a fall at Caulfield.

Pegus was taken to The Alfred Hospital after his mount King Of Ashford dropped dead and crashed heavily to the turf at the 1000 metre mark of Saturday's Clamms Seafood Hcp (1400m).

The jockey suffered concussion and subsequent X-rays revealed he had broken a wrist.

Head and neck scans were all clear.

In what was a busy day for stewards, three jockeys - Dean Yendall and apprentices Logan McGill and Chris Pace - were suspended for careless riding at Caulfield.

Yendall, who won the Starting Price Hcp (1000m) aboard first starter Alkhafif, was outed for 14 meetings, including four metropolitan meetings, for allowing his mount to shift in approaching the 200m when not sufficiently clear of Summarise who had to be severely checked.

His suspension begins on Wednesday and he can return to race riding on August 5.

McGill, the rider of Vennom in the Bensons Property Group Plate (1400m), permitted his mount to shift out near the 400m when not sufficiently clear of Overtake who had to be checked.

He was outed for 12 meetings from Monday and will return on August 1 as a senior rider.

Pace was suspended for 10 meetings for almost bringing himself down on the home turn aboard Scenic Silver in the Clamms Seafood Handicap.

Pace was found guilty of allowing Scenic Silver to get too close to the heels of the runner-up Afterburn on the home turn resulting in his mount clipping the mare's heels and nearly falling.

Stewards also referred Pace to the Apprentice Skills Review Panel for assessment.
