Michelle Payne will get the chance to claim a second Group One win for Bart Cummings when she partners Suyama in Saturday's AJC Australian Derby.

Payne rode her first Group One winner when the Cummings-trained Allez Wonder scored an upset win in the Toorak Handicap during the spring and the master trainer has booked her for his second string Derby Hope with Michael Rodd to stay with Rock Classic.

"It's very exciting, it's my first ride in a Derby," Payne said.

Suyama and Rock Classic worked together at Randwick on Tuesday morning with the latter less impressive than his stablemate but Cummings said there was no cause for concern.

Payne rode Suyama while one of the stable's regular male work riders was aboard Rock Classic.

"Suyama had an advantage, he was two stone lighter," Cummings said.

Payne has another chance for a Group One at Randwick on Saturday when she partners Yosei in the AJC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) for Melbourne trainer Stuart Webb.

The filly was an unlucky third in the Group Two VRC Sires' Produce on March 6 before running fourth in the Reisling Stakes won by Military Rose two weeks later.

"She worked really well this morning," Payne said.

"She is a very nice filly and I have ridden her in all her races."

Yosei has had four starts for a maiden win on February 16 followed by a second in the Group Three Breeders' in Adelaide 11 days later.

Cummings confirmed Payne would also be reunited with Allez Wonder in the Group One Doncaster Mile on Saturday week.

"She just did light work this morning and felt really good," Payne said.

"She would prefer a firmer track for the Doncaster."

Rock Classic drew barrier seven in the Derby while Suyama will start from gate 12.

The John O'Shea-trained Zabrasive remained the $3 favourite after the barrier draw with Rock Classic at $3.80 while Suyama was an $81 chance.

Clare Lindop is the only woman to have ridden a Derby winner in Australia, partnering 100-1 shot Rebel Raider in the 2008 Victoria Derby.
