Trainer Jason Coyle is hoping one of Patinack Farm's stable stars Raheeb can follow the lead of one of its unheralded runners Subtle Cove and win at Group Two level on Saturday.

Subtle Cove won the Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley on the weekend, giving the former Newcastle trainer his biggest win since recently taking over as trainer for Nathan Tinkler's thoroughbred empire.

The mare was also Coyle's first Victorian starter.

Raheeb runs in the Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill and comes into the race after beating just one runner home in the Expressway Stakes (1200m) at the same venue on February 7.

"She's no star, Subtle Cove, and she was one of the first horses Nathan gave me to train in Newcastle and it was a bit unexpected for her to win at that level before some of the others," Coyle said.

"It was my biggest win since setting up at Warwick Farm and was a great thrill for everybody, now we're hoping Raheeb can keep the roll going on Saturday."

Raheeb was posted wide throughout the Expressway and Coyle has already put a line through the run.

"We've been looking forward to getting him over seven furlongs (1400m) and now he gets that chance," Coyle said.

"It's obviously a strong line-up but if he's going to take that next step then he has to run well in this and we think he will."

The Expressway was Raheeb's first run since he finished last in the Cox Plate when trained by Anthony Cummings before Tinkler parted company with the Randwick horseman.

"He's improved significantly fitness-wise from that first-up run and he'll be in good shape for this one," Coyle said.

The entire is being aimed at the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Warwick Farm on March 7.

Peter Robl will ride Raheeb in his return to the saddle after being sidelined since he came off the worst of three jockeys involved in a fall at Rosehill on December 10.

He suffered a fractured vertebra and spent his first weeks on the sideline with his neck in a brace but was cleared to return to the saddle last Monday.

Robl also rides Danehill Smile for Coyle in Saturday's Listed Triscay Stakes (1200m).

"She's done very well in her couple of trials and I can't wait to see her on the racetrack," Coyle said.

Coyle has a couple of juveniles nominated for the Two-Year-Old Handicap (1200m), Gathering and So Anyway.

But he said Gathering would most likely run over the same distance at Wyong on Sunday.

"I'll keep a close eye on So Anyway this week too before I make a final decision on if she will run," Coyle said.

The career of stablemate Ready To Impress, who is nominated for a 1500-metre rating 86 handicap at Rosehill, could be over after she suffered a torn tendon.

"She'll either be retired to stud or will go to the paddock for at least six months," Coyle said.
