Trainer Tony Noonan will give Ortensia a solid 1200m hitout when she has an exhibition gallop with a companion at Sandown on Wednesday in preparation for next month's Hong Kong Sprint.

The Testa Rossa five-year-old, who on Monday secured an invitation to run in the 1200m Sha Tin feature, will gallop between races one and two and will be ridden by Noonan's son and stable apprentice Jake Noonan.

Her regular race rider Craig Williams flies to Japan on Wednesday to complete a three-month riding contract he began earlier this year.

Williams, who will compete in the 24th World Super Jockeys' Series at Tokyo racecourse on Saturday, will ride Ortensia in the Hong Kong Sprint while Jake Noonan will ride her in her work there.

Ortensia, who leaves for Hong Kong next Tuesday, has had just the one run this preparation for a third to flying mare Back Caviar in the Group One Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) at Flemington on November 6.

"She's had a couple of gallops at home here (Mornington) but she really needs a trip away and a good, solid hitout and she'll get that tomorrow at Sandown," Noonan said.

"She's come through the run really well. She took a couple of days to get over it because it was her first run back and it was a pretty solid run but she's put weight on.

"She's bounced back well and looks as good as I've ever seen her and Jake has been riding her and he believes she has never felt as good as this.

"She goes into the race a fresh horse and on the way up."

Ortensia has won nine of her 21 starts which include Group Two victories in the 2009 QTC Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm and the Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot and accumulated over $1.2 million in career earnings.

She was stripped of her win in the Group One Galaxy (1100m) at Randwick in April this year due to a positive swab but that disqualification is subject to appeal.

Ortensia is the only Australian-trained horse entered for Hong Kong's international meeting on December 12 which will also feature the French-trained Melbourne Cup winner Americain in the Vase (2400m).
