Damien Oliver has answered a call from leading trainer Chris Waller to ride at Rosehill on Saturday due to a shortage of senior riders in Sydney.

Waller has booked Oliver for four mounts as he continues his push towards a first Sydney premiership title.

The Rosehill horseman is also only one win away from becoming just the fifth trainer in history to prepare 100 metropolitan winners in a Sydney season after moving to 99 with a winning double at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Oliver will partner Velrosso, Gogra Gogra, The Verminator and Little Surfer Girl for the Waller team at Rosehill.

"I have always had a policy to try to get the best jockeys," Waller said.

"That started with Larry Cassidy, he was winning the premiership here when I first brought a horse to Sydney.

"Then Darren Beadman would always be the first phone call. For a young trainer to use these jockeys, it's amazing how owners listen to them and their opinions and that helps the trainer gain respect as well."

Waller's racing manager Liam Prior sounded out the Melbourne-based Oliver about his availability last week.

"Liam rang around to see who was available," Waller said.

"Glyn Schofield will be back the following week from suspension, Hugh Bowman has gone overseas, Kerrin (McEvoy) is out suspended and Nash (Rawiller) can only ride a certain weight and you have to wait until Monday to see if you can get him."

The Rosehill fixture also coincides with the Group One Tattersall's Tiara meeting at Eagle Farm in Brisbane.

Waller doesn't have a stable rider but utilises the services of a number of senior hoops including Rawiller, Schofield, Bowman, Corey Brown, Tim Clark and Jim Cassidy.

He also has in-form apprentice Jason Collett on loan to his stable.

Collett, who rode a winning treble at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, will partner five horses for Waller on Saturday.

The Rosehill trainer said he was not looking to get a stable rider, preferring to continue what has been successful for him.

"I don't think I have matured enough to handle a stable rider," he said.

"Trainers have bad runs and jockeys also have bad runs so that's one thing. If you're both having a bad time together you can be out of form for a while.

"We just try to use the jockeys that are in form and riding well. It's amazing what does work for us."
