Widden Stud is trying to revise travel plans to allow dual Group One-winning sprinter Nicconi to have one more English start.

Trainer David Hayes, convinced English racegoers didn't see the best of Nicconi in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot last week, is desperate to run the four-year-old in next month's July Cup at Newmarket.

"As far as David is concerned there is unfinished business and he really wants to run (Nicconi) in the July Cup," Widden's Antony Thompson told Sky Sports Radio.

The key to a July Cup start could rest with arrangements for another stud-bound star, last Saturday's Golden Jubilee Stakes winner Starspangledbanner.

"We will know in the next week what Coolmore are doing with Starspangledbanner and if we are able to team up with them getting Nicconi back to Australia," Thompson said.

Nicconi finished fourth - beaten 2-1/2 lengths - to Equiano in the King's Stand (1006m) but never raised hopes of another Australian triumph at Royal Ascot.

"The way he hit the line in the King's Stand suggests the six (furlongs, 1200m) of the July Cup will suit him," Thompson said.

"We are going to head to that race with a good deal of excitement and confidence."

Nicconi will stand his first season at stud in the NSW Hunter Valley in a few months as the winner of the Galaxy and the Lightning Stakes at Group One level.

In TAB Sportsbet's first July Cup market, Nicconi is a $13 chance with Starspangledbanner the $3 favourite to make it two wins from three starts on English soil.

Denman, set to make his debut under the Godolphin banner in the race after a stellar Australian career, is at $10 with Alverta at $21.
