Jockey Chris Munce forecast a bright future for Bretonneux after the talented four-year-old gave him his first Brisbane winner in four years at Doomben.

Munce made a rare appearance to ride on Wednesday after incurring a careless riding suspension at the Magic Millions meeting at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Munce was last successful in Brisbane on the John O'Shea-trained Reigning To Win in the Group One TJ Smith Stakes (1600m) at Eagle Farm in 2006.

The outstanding hoop subsequently rode successfully in Hong Kong but his career was derailed when he served a lengthy jail sentence over his involvement in a betting scandal before he returned home to complete his time in Australia.

Munce, who is slowly re-establishing himself in Sydney, hasn't ruled out returning to ride in Queensland at some stage in the future.

Bretonneux impressed Munce with his display, charging through a wide gap in the straight to down Frangelico by a length in the Coca-Cola Amatil Handicap (1650m).

"He's got good potential and he'll go a long way," Munce said.

"He travelled nicely in the run and he was going so good he lost his action.

"He should comfortably get 2000 metres."

Munce's assessment was music to the ears of winning trainer Brian Wakefield who will soon begin plotting a winter carnival course.

"He'll run in another restricted race on Saturday week and then hopefully we can start preparing for the winter races," Wakefield said.

Gold Coast filly Winwin Situation may soon chase BOBS prizemoney in Sydney during the autumn following her spectacular win on debut in the Mittys Plate (1200m).

Winwin Situation produced a dazzling display to record an easy two length victory over Love A Sequalo with Along Came Dolly a further 1-1/4 lengths away third.

Trainer Bruce Hill has only been in charge of the filly for four months after the three-year-old started her career with Gold Coast trainer Helen Page.

Part-owner Stephen Foster paid $50,000 for Winwin Situation at the Inglis yearling sales.

"She's a BOBS filly so we might take her to Sydney for some of their bonus races," Foster said.

"We knew she had ability when she ran second to Sweepstaking in a barrier trial at the Gold Coast in February last year.

"We had her ready to win first-up soon after the trial but she broke down and we later found she had a bone chip which required an operation."

Hill believes Winwin Situation, who spent four months recovering from the knee operation, will improve with age and should handle a middle distance trip.

"The way she won today gives the impression she'll run further and she is by Danewin," Hill said.

"She's quite a nice filly and we'll probably poke along through the grades for her next few runs but she might measure up to Sydney."
