The Melbourne Racing Club is counting on another bonanza on the back of Black Caviar who is slated to run for the third Saturday in a row in the Futurity Stakes at Caulfield.

The world's highest rated sprinter will be out to better champion US mare Zenyatta's run of 19 consecutive wins from debut as well as the Australasian record she shares with Gloaming (1919-21) and Desert Gold (1915-17).

"Fingers crossed that Black Caviar runs on Saturday," said Melbourne Racing Club media manager Jake Norton.

"In our favour is that she pulled up well after the Lightning Stakes and the owners are keen to get the 20 wins up before she goes overseas."

There were 17 nominations for the Group One Futurity (1400m) but several are dual entries with connections awaiting a decision from trainer Peter Moody on a Black Caviar start which he has said will play out over the week.

Trainer Joe Pride has Rain Affair, a winner at his past eight starts, also entered for the Group Two Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill as are Centennial Park, Niwot, Shoot Out and Star Of Octagonal.

David Hayes has nominated 2011 Group One Oakleigh Plate (1100m) winner Eagle Falls for both the Futurity and the Oakleigh Plate.

The growing band of Black Caviar supporters has significantly boosted the crowds for the first two Saturdays of Melbourne's autumn carnival with 22,806 attending Lightning Stakes day at Flemington, up from 13,136 when she won the race last year.

Her win in the C F Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield the week before, when the MRC threw the gates open to all, attracted 20,427, up from 6000 to 8000 in recent years.

Last year the crowd figure for Blue Diamond day was 10,684 but if Black Caviar runs in the Futurity it is likely to double.

The horses closest to Black Caviar (130) in the handicapping ratings are reigning Cox Plate winner Pinker Pinker (118) and Kiwi star King Mufhasa (118), winner of eight Group One races including the Toorak Hcp (1600m) at Caulfield last spring when he shouldered 58kg.

Three-time Group One winner Scenic Shot (114), dual Group One winner Shoot Out (114) and four-time Group One victor Wall Street (113) are the next highest rated horses nominated.
