Gai Waterhouse's chances of scoring consecutive Golden Slipper victories received a huge boost when More Joyous stormed into favouritism for the $3.5 million race following her slashing debut victory at Rosehill.

More Joyous is the second foal from Group One-winning mare Sunday Joy and has been tightened from $15 in to $5 on bookmaker Colin Tidy's Betchoice to leapfrog Breeders Plate winner Real Saga ($9) as the top elect for the Golden Slipper in April.

"We laid her at $26, and that's already a bad lay for us," Tidy said.

"She couldn't have been more impressive."

Ridden by Nash Rawiller, More Joyous missed the start before racing greenly into fifth at the top of the straight.

But once she balanced up in the run home she produced an incredible turn of foot which the hoop admitted he hadn't seen since Amelia's Dream's stunning victory in last year's Silver Slipper.

More Joyous, the $1.35 favourite, defeated Big Birdie by 5-1/4 lengths in Saturday's 1100-metre race with her final 600 metres run in 33.7 seconds.

"From the first time I rode her I thought she was something special and she certainly is," Rawiller said.

"I can't help but think of Amelia's Dream, they are so similar and she's got plenty of improvement in her from this, don't worry about that."

Waterhouse said the Rosehill crowd had witnessed something special.

"She's very exciting and is Slipper material, the people here today have seen a real topliner who is ready to go for the big one," she said.

Owner John Singleton also couldn't wipe the smile off his face but admitted to being a little overwhelmed by the performance.

"Gai told me she was good and Nash told me to get on and so I came here expecting something out of the ordinary but what she did just blew me away," Singleton said.

Waterhouse said she would give More Joyous one more start before the Golden Slipper.

"We'll just let the dust settle and you'll see her again soon but we're not too sure where just yet," she said.

Amelia's Dream returned to the stables on Friday after a long lay-off with injury which had her sidelined since her 6-1/4 length romp in the Silver Slipper in March last year.

Waterhouse won last year's Golden Slipper with Sebring who trialled at Randwick on Friday.
