Breeder and owner John Rippon made the right call throwing Melito in as a late entry for the TJ Smith Stakes and he now expects the filly to give the All-Aged Stakes a huge shake as well.

Melito was originally going to run in the Group Two Sapphire Stakes on the same day as the TJ Smith, but a change of mind resulted in the filly claiming her first Group One.

She returns to Randwick on Saturday for another crack at the older horses in the Group One trainer Gerald Ryan had actually planned to target with the three-year-old at the Sydney carnival.

"It would be arrogant to say she's automatically going to knock them off again," Rippon, managing director of Reavill Farm which bred and now race the filly, said.

"It was a fair dinkum win last time and now up to the 1400 metres, if her finish can be similar to what she produced last time then she's got a good chance again.

"Danleigh is a great horse and he's the new ingredient in the race (from the TJ Smith).

"The market is probably a fair indication - there's four or five horses all having a strong chance, and Melito is one of them."

Mic Mac and Hot Danish share favouritism slightly ahead of Danleigh, with Melito next in the betting.

While the All-Aged fancies Melito, Hot Danish and Mic Mac are all stepping up from 1200m to 1400m, Danleigh will be coming back in distance after finishing fifth in the Doncaster Mile last Saturday.

The Chris Waller-trained multiple Group One winner won the All-Aged last year but that was second-up after running first-up in the Galaxy (1100m).

This time he's had five runs and is on a seven-day back-up.

"He's come through the Doncaster really well but with the seven-day back-up you never really know," Waller said.

"But all the signs are positive."

Melito was joined by fellow three-year-old Wanted in the TJ Smith but another three-year-old from the Peter Moody stable will be out to try and claim the All-Aged.

Jockey Luke Nolen said the talented Tickets can bounce back after his seventh to Danleigh in the Group One George Ryder Stakes (1500m) on April 3.

He had earlier won the Group Two Phar Lap Stakes, defeating Al Dhafra, in good style.

"The way he's drawn (in barrier five) I think he can get a lovely run, similar to when he won at Rosehill two starts ago, and I think he can turn it around," Nolen said.
