The Melbourne Cup-winning team of Bart Cummings, Blake Shinn and Dato Tan Chin Nam will line up for a lesser Cup on Saturday but one that is still important.

Prince Arthur will attempt to add another stakes win to his record in the Winter Cup (2400m) at Rosehill which could well be his final race before he is retired to stud.

The six-year-old is raced by Dato Tan and will stand at his Think Big Stud in the spring.

Cummings believes he can go out a winner after an unlucky last-start sixth to Cup rival Nuclear Sky on June 13.

"This will be close to his last start so it would be nice to see him win," Cummings said.

"Blake Shinn will ride him. The owner has had some success with Blake so I went with his request for him to ride."

Prince Arthur and Nuclear Sky were among 12 entries for the feature with trainer Chris Waller nominating Come On Cugat and Alexander Of Hales.

Waller has also entered Alexandra Of Hales for the Caloundra Cup (2200m) and will make a decision later this week which event he contests.

The trainer said he would prefer a drier surface for the five-year-old who was imported from Ireland with a stud career in mind.

Both Alexander Of Hales and Prince Arthur are sons of the late Danehill and will be among the last sons of the super sire to go to stud.

There were eight two-year-olds entered for the 1100 metres fillies handicap which was added to the Rosehill program after the transfer of a similar race at Randwick on Saturday to the Kensington track.

The switch meant the field had to be reduced to eight because the 1200m start on the inner track could not accommodate more runners.

Much to her trainer's dismay, the Gai Waterhouse-trained Gigas was balloted out and has been entered for the Rosehill event.

The 1400 metre race for two-year-olds at Rosehill attracted 17 entries including Magic Model who was withdrawn from Saturday's race by trainer David Payne who did not want to run her in the conditions.

Her opposition will include the Cummings-trained Faint Perfume who scored a dominant win over 1400 metres at Warwick Farm last Wednesday.
