Even before her Victoria Derby triumph on Rebel Raider, Clare Lindop was on a high after watching Moatize win the Saab and earn a start not just for himself but also for her in Tuesday's Melbourne Cup.

The four-year-old will carry just 50kg in the Cup and the Bart Cummings stable approached Lindop late last week to ride him if he qualified.

Of course Lindop said yes and helped cheer Moatize to a narrow victory over Light Vision in the 2500m race with Michael Rodd aboard.

Just a little more than three hours later, Lindop came back under the Flemington archway to a surprisingly warm response after steering 100-1 chance Rebel Raider to a comprehensive win over the odds-on favourite Whobegotyou in the Derby.

"I had a vision, I knew she'd win the Derby," Cummings said.

That's highly unlikely but Australia's most successful living trainer is more than happy to have Australia's most successful female rider on Moatize with his other Cup runner Viewed to be ridden by Blake Shinn.

And Lindop is equally thrilled to be riding for the man who has won 11 Melbourne Cups among his 249 Group One races and has twice this year been officially anointed as a legend - first by the Racing Hall of Fame then by the Sporting Hall of Fame.

"To be riding for Bart Cummings is awesome," Lindop said.

"He is the master of the Cup and to be going in on a live chance is very exciting."

Lindop has had two rides in the Cup, the first on Debben for trainer Leon Macdonald who prepared Saturday's Derby winner and has been a guiding light in the jockey's career.

Debben finished well out of the placings but Lindop was back again in 2007 where she rode Dolphin Jo to a creditable fifth place.

She committed to ride him again and the gelding seemed to be on track, claiming the Winning Edge Stakes before being unplaced in the Caulfield Cup.

But just over a week ago he was found to be injured and will be out of action for some time.

Moatize and Viewed were both at $31 but the Cummings factor is expected to kick in with corporate bookmakers already reporting brisk business on the pair including a bet of $500,000 to $10,000 taken by Sportingbet Australia.
