Theseo will be restricted to his lightest autumn campaign since his arrival as one of Australia's weight-for-age stars.
Trainer Gai Waterhouse confirmed the Tulloch Lodge warrior would not contest this week's Apollo Stakes at Rosehill - a race he resumed in last year.
Instead, the seven-year-old will try to make it successive Chipping Norton Stakes victories when he resumes in the 1600m weight-for-age feature at Warwick Farm on March 5.
The Chipping Norton is the first Group One race of the Sydney carnival and will be one of just three autumn starts for the veteran.
Waterhouse was forced to abandon plans for Theseo to avenge a narrow 2009 Australian Cup defeat because of a setback after a late December trial.
But he convinced Waterhouse he was close to returning when he stepped out in a Randwick barrier trial last week.
"I'll trial him again before running him first-up in the Chipping Norton Stakes," Waterhouse told Sky Sports Radio."
Theseo staged a thrilling duel with Rangirangdoo to win the Chipping Norton Stakes last year before claiming the scalp of the subsequent Doncaster Mile winner in the Ranvet Stakes.
Waterhouse will give Theseo his chance to win the Ranvet for a record-breaking third time before winding the gelding's campaign up on the final day of the Australian Turf Club carnival in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick.
Talented filly More Strawberries is expected to be ready to resume on Saturday after she was withdrawn from Saturday's Light Fingers Stakes with a nasal discharge.
The Group One placegetter will take on older company in the Listed $100,000 Triscay Stakes but heavyweight jockey Nash Rawiller will have to forgo the mount with Jim Cassidy booked for ride.
