Kevin Moses has anointed four-year-old Let Them Have It as the stable's replacement for evergreen stayer No Wine No Song who has run his last race.
Moses revealed nine-year-old No Wine No Song, winner of the 2008 Sydney Cup, had been retired and the Randwick trainer believes Let Them Have It has the ability to fill the void.
"I've always had an opinion of him, he's got to take over from No Wine No Song," Moses said.
"He's his replacement."
Let Them Have It began his assignment with a 1-1/2 length win in Saturday's The TAB iPhone App Handicap (1500m) at Rosehill, the gelding's third win from just eight starts.
Moses was confident the gelding would prove hard to beat after a luckless performance first-up at Canterbury on October 29.
"He got smashed into the fence that night and Brenton Avdulla rode him and said he thought he would have run a place," Moses said.
"It just took the wind out him.
"I've always had an opinion of him and I took him up for the Queensland Derby this year but things just went wrong for him."
The Group Three Summer Cup (2400m) on Boxing Day is on the radar for Let Them Have It later this preparation and Moses said the Listed $200,000 Canberra Cup (2000m) on November 28 was also a consideration on the way to the staying feature.
While Let Them Have It is showing promise, he still has a long way to go to replicate the deeds of the horse he has been earmarked to replace.
The winner of 10 of his 59 starts, No Wine No Song amassed more than $1.4 million in prizemoney.
No Wine No Song and Let Them Have It are raced by their breeder Joe O'Gara who stands Song Of Tara, the sire of both gallopers.
Along with his Group One Sydney Cup triumph, No Wine No Song also won two Chairman's Handicaps (2600m) and just this spring claimed another stakes victory in the Group Three Colin Stephen Quality (2400m).
Moses took No Wine No Song to Melbourne for the first time this spring but he finished down the track in both the Geelong Cup and then the Queen's Cup at Flemington.
"It's the first time he's ever jarred up that badly as he did the other day (after the Queen's Cup)," Moses said.
"He's starting to get a few problems and it's time for him to retire.
"We retired him once and since we brought him back he's earned $130,000. He's been a great horse."
